Market study: The market for refurbished products in Germany

The topic of sustainable consumption has become increasingly important in recent years. eBay Marketplaces GmbH has therefore commissioned metoda GmbH for the second time in a row to analyse the German market for used & refurbished products in selected categories in the areas of electrical goods, home & garden and sports & outdoor.

An overview of the results:

• Consumers can choose from refurbished products for 40% of the most popular electrical goods, home & garden and sports & outdoor items on idealo.de
• eBay has almost ten times more retailers offering refurbished goods compared to Amazon
• eBay has by far the largest range of refurbished items and covers more than 60% of the examined products with offers, an increase of 7 percentage points compared to the previous year
• eBay also has the largest number of best prices, i.e. minimum prices per day, for refurbished products
