Amazon Haul: Taking on Temu and Shein
US Amazon is entering the budget shopping arena with "Amazon Haul," a new category designed to rival Chinese platforms like Temu and Shein. These companies have risen to prominence by offering ultra-low prices and a factory-to-consumer model, shipping products straight from the factory to the customer.
Amazon's response is ambitious. The "Haul" section will feature inexpensive items, many under $20, shipped directly from China, bypassing traditional logistics centers while increasing delivery times to just 11 days. This mirrors Temu and Shein's approach, which has proven immensely popular, especially among young, price-conscious consumers in Europe and the U.S.
This move underscores Amazon’s commitment to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market. While it offers shoppers more affordable choices, it also raises questions about sustainability, quality, and labor practices - issues that have plagued its competitors.
